About the scholarship
The NFD Trust provides grants to support individuals undertaking further training which will assist their development and will be of benefit to ±¬×ߺÚÁÏers with a hearing loss or who are deaf. Applications will also be considered from groups wishing to provide courses or training for a wider group of people, providing they will benefit the deaf and hard of hearing community.
Applications are open once per year, between
1 February to 31 March
Purpose
Training and development for Deaf, hard of hearing or hearing-able people.
Conditions
Hearing applicants: to work for the benefit of Deaf and/or hard of hearing people in a professional and/or voluntary capacity.
Deaf / hard of hearing applicants can use the scholarship for their own training/improvement/employment opportunities.
What does it cover?
Course fees, books, interpreters, note-takers and extra educational material or tuition.

- Fully complete the application form and ensure ALL supporting documents are attached.
- Return application and supporting documents by the closing date.
Supporting documents required:
- where there is a hearing loss, an audiogram report or official letter from a physician or audiologist
- where there is an Auditory Processing Disorder, an official letter from a physician or audiologist confirming the diagnosis of APD
- minimum of TWO recent signed references (issued within the last 12 months) in support of applicant/s (requests by the applicant to email or phone the referees not accepted)

- summary of qualifications held and record of learning
- accountability report for ANY previous funding received from the NFD Trust
- ​Please ensure you upload costs, quotes, and invoices to support your application. If not uploaded correctly, your application many not be considered.
- A scanned copy of a pre-printed deposit slip or bank letter which includes the full bank account number (bank, branch, account number and suffix) and the account holder's name. Must be signed and stamped by the bank within the last 90 days. Please note you must go to a branch and have the branch staff print off and sign your deposit slip or bank letter. Failure to upload the correct bank documentation, may result in your application not being considered.
Applicants will be notified of the progress of their application no later than two months after the closing date.

Please note, if you are successful with your application you will need to complete an accountability form which will be emailed to you.
Entry requirements
Individual applicants are required to:
- be a ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ citizen or have permanent residency, and be residing in ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ.
- be taking up a course of study for employment that will benefit the Deaf and hard of hearing community OR
- be Deaf / hard of hearing (or those eligible to wear a hearing aid) or have an Auditory Processing Disorder (APD).
- submit ALL supporting documents, along with a fully completed application form by the closing dates specified below, or your application will NOT be considered.
