About the scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to support study towards a Master's degree at the University of Canterbury for students engaged in research related to the energy field.Value/Benefits: Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, at a value of $16,500Level of Study: Master's Closing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) 15 October (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date) Tenure: The scholarship is tenable for the period necessary to complete up to 120 points of enrolment Number Available Annually: One Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Enrolment in one of the following: a programme for a Master's degree that includes a thesis, dissertation, or research project with a credit weighting of at least 90 points, relating to the energy field in the broadest sense; ora programme for a Master of Engineering Studies (MEngSt) degree in Renewable Energy, that includes a 30-point research projectCitizenship/Residency Requirements: Not applicable For more information, please read the regulations for this award: Click here.By 10 December in the year of application:applicants must have met the academic requirements for enrolment in the qualifying programme at the University of Canterbury;applicants must have received final confirmed grades for the qualifying degree; andapplicants requiring admission with academic equivalent standing must have had this admission confirmed unconditionally (including any English language requirements).For applicants who have completed the academic requirements, but not the non-academic requirements, for the BE(Hons) degree, offers of award are conditional on the completion and crediting of the non-academic requirements by 15 March in the year following the year of application. Students may not take up the scholarship until such non-academic requirements have been completed and credited.Selection will be based on:academic achievement; andpotential to contribute to the energy field.Southpower Limited, later Orion ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Limited, established the scholarship in 1994.Recipients will be required to meet with Orion ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ Limited to discuss their project soon after they have commenced their research, and to make a presentation to the company at the completion of their research.*The scholarship will be paid pro rata if the recipient is enrolled for fewer than 120 points in any year, or has enrolled in a qualifying programme prior to 1 January in the year following the year of application.This scholarship supports study towards a master?s degree at the University of Canterbury by students engaged in research related to the energy field.
