About the scholarship

This scholarship will assist outstanding ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ musical performers or conductors who have completed or are completing an honours or master?s degree in musical performance in ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ to continue their musical development either overseas or in ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ. This scholarship was established by Mr Sven Stenb?ck in memory of his wife Maida Stenb?ck, n?e Saunders, a ±¬×ߺÚÁÏer who loved classical music. Funding for the scholarship is made available through the Kiwi Music Trust. The scholarship will be awarded for classical performance (instrumental, vocal, or conducting).Value/Benefits: The funds available for the scholarships in any year will generally be in the range $50,000?$60,000.Level of Study: Honours or MastersClosing Date: 11:59 pm (NZT) on the 1st March (Applications open approximately 8 weeks before this date) Tenure: The scholarship may be tenable with other scholarships, but account will be taken of the aggregate circumstances of the scholar and of the desirability of using available funds to best advantage. Number Available Annually: Usually more than one award is made every year. Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: Applicants will have completed or be completing the requirements for an honours or master?s degree in musical performance (including vocal performance) or conducting at a ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ university, or an equivalent musical qualification.Citizenship/Residency Requirements: ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ citizen (preference will be given to candidates who are normally resident in ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ). Applications from students of non-classical styles (jazz or rock, for example) will not be accepted.have completed or are completing the requirements for an honours or master?s degree in musical performance (including vocal performance) or conducting at a ±¬×ߺÚÁÏ university, or an equivalent musical qualification.be able to provide supporting evidence of excellence in musical performance and achievement; this requires a recording of themselves in performance (see the Performance Recording section in the online application form).In very exceptional circumstances an application from a candidate without honours (or equivalent) may be considered.Funds awarded may be used for travel, tuition fees and other expenses approved by the Trustees. The scholar is expected to devote him or herself to study on a full-time basis during the tenure of the scholarship.Continuation of the scholarship is dependent upon positive reports from the scholar?s teacher or supervisor. The scholar will be required to report to the Trustees on a regular basis.
