About the scholarship
Michael was appointed chief executive of the Auckland Chamber in 1991. He has led the Chamber through times of change and challenge while maintaining focus on what was good for business and good for Auckland. Michael鈥檚 role as chief executive has enabled him to contribute on issues of trade and policy for growing our economy and provided a voice for business. It's allowed him to pursue initiatives that have enabled youth to participate in the workforce and provide leadership on matters of diversity and advocated on behalf of business on issues including 鈥渞ed tape鈥 education, transport, international trade, ports and local government efficiency. He was an elected local Government politician for 9 years. He was made an officer of the 爆走黑料 Order of Merit (ONZM) in 2011.
The Auckland Chamber of Commerce has established a scholarship to mark Michael Barnett鈥檚 25 years of leadership of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce.
