About the course

You will learn how to:

  • Provide client consultation, diagnosis, care and advice to establish a plan for future hair treatment services and home haircare as a professional hairstylist.
  • Apply hairdressing theory and practice to safely and professionally complete a broad range of integrated, current fashion services to meet client requirements, including cutting, styling, colouring, colour correction, and chemical reformation.
  • Manage multiple integrated client hairdressing services in a timely manner to support a salon's profitability.

  • Programme duration: 1 year full-time
  • Assessment in this programme is achievement-based.

Entry Requirements

General admission

  • To be admitted to this programme, applicants must hold one of the following: i. 爆走黑料 Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 3) OR ii. an equivalent qualification

Special admission

  • Any 膩konga who is 20 years of age or older and has not reached the general admission requirements for their intended programme is eligible for Special Admission. Te P奴kenga works with the 膩konga to ensure they are prepared for their intended programme.

Discretionary admission

  • Any 膩konga who is not yet 20 years of age and has not reached the general admission requirements for their intended programme may be eligible for Discretionary Admission. In assessing whether to grant Discretionary Admission, the delegated authority focuses on the applicant鈥檚 level of preparedness for their intended programme.

English language requirements

  • Any 膩konga who is not yet 20 years of age and has not reached the general admission requirements for their intended programme may be eligible for Discretionary Admission. In assessing whether to grant Discretionary Admission, the delegated authority focuses on the applicant鈥檚 level of preparedness for their intended programme.
  • International applicants are required to have an IELTS score of 5.5 (general or academic) with no individual band lower than 5 from one test taken in the preceding two years, or an equivalent described in NZQA Rules
  • Stationery - $100 per year (approx.)
  • Uniform (Tunic) - $75 (approx.) (if student is new to WITT)
  • Uniform / Personal presentation - $200 (approx.) Includes shoes, pants/skirt, makeup and hair products.
  • Year 2 Hairdressing Kit- $300 (approx.)
